I picked up the flowers from my nearby Harris Teeter and the tomatoes came from my garden.

Happy Yet?

Happy Yet?
Oil on 6x6 inches stretch canvas

This painting gave me fits. I struggled to be happy with the form and coloring. I finally went to Bob Burridge's color wheel and settled on purple (dominant), orange (spice color), blue (spice color) and yellow-green (focal point) along with white and black. Happy? Well, let's say happier.

Here's where it was before:

I initially drew the flower with acrylic ink.

Then I applied a thin layer of oils. Boring! Using the color wheel allowed for a dramatic change. Frustrating but fun.

Sunflowers

Humble Sunflower
Acrylics on 8x10 Wood Cradle

I did a sketch of some sunflowers I bought from a nearby Harris Teeter. I traced the sketch on tracing paper to transfer to the gessoed wood cradle. Then I painted it with acrylic paints. Looks pretty good standing there among the real thing.

Foxgloves in Rose Garden

Foxgloves in Rose Garden
Acrylics on 6x6 inches stretched canvas

This scene comes from a photo I took at one of my favorite place: McGill Rose Garden in the NoDa area of Charlotte, NC. Not only is this a beautiful place to paint but nearby is Amelie's Restaurant for lunch afterwards. Love it!

Owl in the Woods

Owl in the Woods
Acrylics on 6x6 inches stretched canvas

Painted this from a photo I took of this owl at the local Raptor Center in Charlotte, NC. This wonderful place is a hospital for raptors. They are treated then released. I need to go back and see if this fella is still there.

Bejeweled by a Snow Storm

"Bejeweled With Ice"
Watercolor/Gouache on Aquabord 6x6 inches

We recently has a storm go through consisting of rain, ice and a little snow. The snow has quickly disappeared but the ice remained. I think the trees loved it. They were showing off their sparkling jewels all day with the help of the sun. So lovely.

Rosary
Acrylics
6x6x2 inches stretched canvas

My heart is hurting at this time for a relative in the darkest pain anyone can experience. I do not know what else to do but pray. Father, resolve the situation. Only you know what to do.
